Title : "Delegating to complete complex tasks elegantly and efficiently" Abstract: In order to manage complex organizations like enterprises or governments it is essential for the leader to delegate judiciously. It is not a good practice to delegate completely and neither is it good to delegate and still micromanage (controlling minute details). Rather, a good manager delegates to empower his group at the same time maintaining a good control over the organization. Similarly, in current complex distributed systems, some of them spanning different parts of the globe, with tight interdependencies there is a need for good patterns and practices for delegation. Traditional access control either allows complete access or no access and this is not ideal for processes that want to collaborate or co-operate to perform complex tasks efficiently. In this talk, I will review some policy languages that have special constructs for delegation. I will analyze them based on some parameters like elegance, efficiency and expressiveness.
