Event-based systems: Enabling future, distributed applications

Event processing has become the paradigm of choice in many monitoring and
reactive applications. It enables building large-scale, distributed
applications, which are extensible and modifiable at runtime. Example
applications for event-based systems are smart homes and urban city
management. This talk gives a brief introduction and overview of event-based
systems, their possible applications and the underlying technology, followed
by current research trends and challenges.
