An Evaluation of Delegation Strategies for Coordinated Enforcement The concept of service automata, introduced by Gay, Mantel and Sprick in 2011, can be used to enforce usage control in a distributed system. As the subjects in such a system communicate with each other, the runtime enforcers (service automata) are given the same capability by being able to delegate enforcement decisions to other automata. Obviously there are mutiple strategies for doing so, each with their respective advantages and disadvantages. By using the example scenario of mail forwarding different delegation strategies are presented and evaluated that can be used as part of a service automata implementation to prevent forwarding of an e-mail in a closed and monitored system of e-mail users. The presentation sketches the contents of the thesis by presenting the model used for evaluation, different strategies and results.
